Majalta people protest against discrimination in relief cases

MAJALTA, Oct 19: People of Majalta and adjoining areas protested outside Tehsil office Majalta, against alleged slip-shod formulation of relief cases.
Leading the protesters, R S Pathania, general secretary Pradesh Youth Congress, alleged that a number of deserving cases have been left out by the local administration while many undeserving cases were included thereby fuelling resentment and uncertainty in the area. More than two months have elapsed since the damage of personal houses of the poor farmers but not even a single penny has been doled out to any affected family, he said.
Mr Pathania also sought sanctioning of compensation for whopping ‘Rabi’ crop losses in the entire hilly belt of Ramnagar, particularly in certain hilly and far-flung areas, where people survive on only maize-crop. In view of impending winters, compensation needs to be doled out immediately, he added.
Prominent among those who accompanied the Youth Congress leader, included Shiv Charan, Sarpanch Manzur Ahmed, Sarpanch Girdhari Lal, Sarpanch Raj Kumar, Sarpanch Jag Mohan, Sarpanch Farooq Ahmed and others.
