Srinagar, July 26: Security forces today busted a narco-terror module by arresting three persons and recovered huge cache of arms, ammunition and narcotics from them.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, told Excelsior that based on a credible input a joint naka of Kupwara police and Army was laid at Sadhna Pass in Tanghdar area of district Kupwara which busted a module of narco-terrorism.
He said that during the operation, two vehicles, Bolero bearing registration number JK01AJ-0219 and Santro bearing registration number JK05B-5471 were intercepted.
The troops pressed Army dogs into services who facilitated to locate the concealed and hidden packages from these vehicles.
Arms and ammunition including one AK 56, a magazine, two pistols with two magazines, 20 grenades and other incriminating materials were recovered from the vehicles. Besides this, huge quantity of narcotics approximately 10 kilogrammes was also recovered.
Police arrested three persons from whose possession the arms and ammunition was recovered and they were shifted to Police Station for further investigation. They have been identified as Ameer Amin Sheikh son of Mohammad Amin Sheikh of Hajinar Tanghdar, Bashir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh of Bhatpora Tanghdar and Faizan Bashir Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh of Bhatpora Tanghdar.
The two vehicles used in the commission of the crime have also been seized. A case has been registered and investigation into the matter is going on.
And security forces today busted a militant hideout in Shopian district of South Kashmir and revered arms and ammunition from it.
Police said that based on a credible input, Shopian police along with 44 RR and 178 battalion CRPF busted a militant hideout in the orchards of Dachoo village area of district Shopian.
During search in the area, a militant hideout was busted and arms and ammunition including 2 UBGL grenades, 3 Chinese grenades, one AK-47 magazine, 20 AK-47 rounds, one ICOM radio set, two pouches, two blankets and other incriminating materials was recovered. The incriminating material has been taken into police custody for the purpose of investigation.
Police have registered a case and investigation are on.
Militants this morning fired upon 14th Battalion of CRPF deployed at main town Shopian in South Kashmir. However, no loss of life or injuries were reported in the attack. Security forces cordoned off the area but militants managed to escape.
