POONCH, Apr 3: The prominent Gujjar leader from State Shamsher-ul-Haqla Poonchi has demanded that Gujjars and Bakerwals be made a party to any dialogue on Kashmir issue.
In a statement issued here, today he said the Gujjars who have a sizable population in the State are nationalists by core and they have stood with the national cause every time and whether in war or peace the Gujjars stood with nation like a rock.
He said for any solution of Kashmir issue with Pakistan the Gujjars be made a party to dialogue as no solution to the issue was possible with out taking them into confidence. Haqla said Gujjars have sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the nation and they always stood a rock against the Pak invaders in 1947, 65, 71 wars as well as during the proxy war started by Pakistan since 1989. He said Gujjars stand by unity and integrity of the State as well as country and they fully back the Parliamentary Resolution of 1994 on PoK.
He said the nomadic gujjars and Bakerwals despite their loyalty towards their motherland have been ignored in all spheres of development and majority of them still live in abject poverty. He said it is high time for the Government to provide proper attention for the welfare and upliftment of this community by taking the new developmental schemes and projects to the areas inhibited by Gujjars and Bakerwals in the State.
