Make ration available

I
Sir,
In the wake up of National Food Security Act (NFSA), the consumers in Jammu city are facing great inconvenience in getting ration. Despite many protests by people, the Government authorities have not bothered much for the suffering of people. The  things have not improved much. They have rather worsened. An example  in this regard can be cited here.
The ration dealers curtly say that they can not provide ration to consumers for the month of March, as they have to clear the consumers who have not got ration for the month of January. But this illogic has no takers. One would like to ask the authorities how could a poor person buy atta or rice from the market at a higher price, when he is not  in a position to even pay for the subsidised ration available at ration depots. Shall the consumer wait for two months, before he may get the ration and eat it. Besides there are many complaints regarding less weightage of these edible items sold by the ration dealers. There is need to streamline ration distribution for consumers. The consumers should not be made to wait for months together. They should be provided ration on time without any delay. The delay compounds the problem further. One witnesses huge queues outside ration dealers waiting for hours together to get their due. This not only wastes their precious times but also at times leads to frequent brawls and scuffles among consumers. There should be no scope for backlog clearance. It is quite agonising to wait for monthly ration quota. Hope authorities will  understand  the sufferings of rationees.

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Ration depots go dry as CAPD fails to ensure essential supplies ‘DE Mar 12.
There is urgent need to redress the grievances of people that have surfaced on account of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in the State. The people feel that the Act has been enforced in the State in a hurry without studying its pros anc cons. The Act has courted controversy right from the day one of its enforcement. The NC-Cong coalition had outrightly rejected it. People in all the three region have been protesting against it, and demanding adequate quantity of rice, flour and sugar as would suffice their needs. Before the situation may go out of control, it is necessary that the deficiencies in the Act be replaced by requirements of people.
Otherwise, the precarious situation may be exploited by politician for their petty interests.
Though, the Government of  the State has asked the State administration to identify lecunae, the subordinate staff should lose no time no reframing it as per needs of the publics.
