JAMMU, Dec 21: Chairman Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra today asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to maintain cleanliness in the city and take up up-gradation of lanes and drains where every required.
The Chairman issued the directions to the JMC Commissioner, K L Khajuria, after a deputation of Sabzi Mandi traders and residents call on him and projected their grievances.
Threadbare discussion was held on the issues raised by the deputation. The deputationists sought immediate measures for renovation of lanes and drains, besides regular lifting of garbage from the area.
The Commissioner JMC assured to take immediate measures to redress the grievances of the residents and said that up-gradation of lanes and drains in Sabzi Mandi area would be taken up soon.
The Chairman also asked for improving drainage, sewerage and civic facilities in and around Gujrati Basti. He also directed JMC to launch a massive cleanliness drive in the city.
