JAMMU, July 18: Arun Malhotra, a former International Footballer & Technical Member, AIFF met President All India Football Federation, Kalyan Chaubey in New Delhi to discuss the football scenario and correlated issues emerging from Jammu and Kashmir.
Malhotra lauded AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey who has been instrumental in selecting Srinagar to host the maiden National camp for SAFF U-16 last year. It was the first time ever when Jammu and Kashmir had hosted the National Camp for U-16 Championship with the support of JKSC. Now again president AIFF is generous enough to offer another opportunity to J&K in giving Under-17 football camp which is underway.
“Making J&K a part of the vision and road map of AIFF for development of football will definitely boost the players and game and woo aspiring footballers to create a niche at a higher level,” said Malhotra. He also expressed gratitude for appointing Ishfaq Ahmad, former international footballer and head coach of U-16 and U-17, which won SAFF Under-16 Championship.
Malhotra said “I am emotionally overwhelmed that ultimately what we proposed for boosting football in Jammu and Kashmir is accepted and being implemented in a phased manner. AIFF has also conducted various coaching and education programmes for budding coaches in Jammu & Srinagar and its continues process.”
Besides discussing other plethora of issues relating to football, the President AIFF has shown his eagerness for having the elected body of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) in place sooner than later. He wished to have elections at the earliest and an elected body in place. He said that together with the local stakeholders and J&K Sports Council, we will be able to develop tailor-made plans and projects for the development of the game in the UT.
