JAMMU, Oct 26: SPMR Commerce College and Government MAM College today defeated their opponents and advanced to next stages, in Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament for men, being organized at lower ground of University of Jammu.
In the first match, SPMR College registered 21 runs win over MIET College and entered into quarterfinals.
Batting first, SPMR College scored 150 runs by losing all wickets in 20 overs. Suryansh was the top scorer with 42 runs, while Avesh, Subrat and Mohit made 25, 19 and 12 runs, respectively.
For MIET College, Lakshay took three wickets while Shubhang and Nasrullah scalped 2 wickets each. Saket also clinched one wicket.
In reply, MIET College failed to chase the target and managed to score only 129 runs in stipulated 20 overs by losing 7 wickets. Thus, MIET College lost the match to SPMR College. Pushpinder made highest 72 runs for MIET College while Shubhang made 10 runs and Peerzada as well as Ankush scored 8 runs each.
In the second match, Government MAM College crushed GDC Rajouri by 59 wickets and sailed into semi-finals.
Batting first after losing toss, MAM College made 124 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Jagjeet was the top scorer with 34 runs, while Yogesh made 25 runs, Rohit scored 12 runs and Varun as well as Nipun contributed 24 runs each.
For GDC Rajouri, Amir, Sajid, Sumit and Aditya picked up one wicket each.
In reply, GDC Rajouri bundled out on a paltry total of 65 in 16 overs. Thus, MAM College won the match by 59 runs. Iftaiz made 15 runs while Aditya scored 13 runs for GDC Rajouri.
For MAM College, Rakshit was the pick of the bowler, who scalped 4 wickets. Nipun took 2 wickets while Yogesh, Rohit and Syed picked up one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Raman Kumar and Mohan Lal as umpires, while Vinod acted as scorer.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
