JAMMU, Aug 28: Government MAM College and GWC Parade emerged winners in the Inter-Collegiate Chess Men and Women Championship, organized by Directorate of Sports and physical Education, University of Jammu at the indoor hall of the Directorate.
In Men Section, Government MAM College beat GDC Udhampur by 3-2 points and won the Championship. The match remained draw with 2-2 points and was decided through best v/s best game.
Vishal Kumar of MAM College beat Ankush Sharma of GDC Udhampur, Rajat Sharma of MAM College crushed Shivang Gupta of GC Udhampur, Sahil Mahajan of MAM College lost to Raghuveer Singh of GDC Udhampur and Surinder Singh of MAM College lost to Parul Kumar Angurana of GDC Udhampur. In best v/s best game, Rajat Sharma of MAM College beat Shivang Gupta of GDC Udhampur.
In Women Section, GWC Parade thrashed PG Department of Jammu University by 3-2 points and won the Championship. The match remained draw with 2-2 points and was decided through best v/s best game.
Sonali Manhas of GWC Parade beat Geetanjali of PG Department of JU, Hansja Sharma of GWC parade beat Monika Thakur of PG Department of JU, Anchal Chibber of GWC Parade College lost to Navneet Kour of PG Department of JU and Heena Bhat of GWC Parade lost to Meehak Bakshi of PG team. In best v/s best game, Sonali of GWC Parade smashed Navneet Kour of PG Department of JU.
Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu awarded trophies and medals to the winner and runner-up team players in the presence of Prof BD Sehgal, Balbir Singh Chib, Suman Lata, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Sushil Sawhney, Vikas Karlopia, Jai Bharat and PD Singh.
