MAM College lifts hockey title

JAMMU, Oct 18: Scripting a convincing win over Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch in the summit clash by four goals to two (4-2), the MAM College team lifted the title trophy of the Inter-Collegiate Men Hockey Tournament, which concluded at Jammu University Hockey Fields, here today.
Earlier, GDC Poonch scored the first goal in the 28th minute of the match through Navjot Singh, but Jaspreet Singh from MAM College scored the equalizer in 34th minute. However, Mohd Shoket netted another goal for GDC Poonch in the 36th minute to give them (2-1) lead. Then MAM College players came back strongly and played as a cohesive unit to score back to back goals in 44th, 49th and 56th minute of the match. Rajveer Singh (1) and Gurveer Singh (2) were the goal scorers. Finally, MAM College won by four goals to two.
Prof Deepshikha Kotwal was the chief guest on the occasion, who was introduced with the players by Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. She presented trophy to the winners on the occasion.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Sonam Angchok, Assistant Director, Sports and Physical Education, JU, HS Chib, Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof Kamaljeet Singh, Ravinder Singh, Mahesh Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Dr Brij Baloeia, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ramesh Magotra, Jasbir Singh, Harmanan Singh, Motinder Pal Singh and PD Singh.
The tournament was being organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
