JAMMU, Dec 9: MAM College, MIET and MBS College Inter-College Table Tennis Tournament in men and women section 2013-14 began today at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
In men’s section, MAM College beat Bhaskar Degree College Udhampur by 3-1.
Nitin Dubey got better of Rajat Singh by (11-8,12-10); Shreyans Jain drubbed Sahil Ahmad by (11-2,14-12); Asif lost to Sanjeev Jamwal by (11-13,13-11,4-11) and Rajat prevailed over Shreyans Jain by (11-8,11-5).
MBS College beat SRS College by 3-1 in an easy contest. Tanveer Singh outplayed Jatinder Pal by (11-4, 11-1); Gurvinder Singh defeated Ikjot Singh by (11-3, 11-7); Karanjeet Singh lost to Ramandeep Singh by (9-11, 9-11) and Gurvinder Singh trounced Jatinder Pal by (11-4, 11-5).
Meanwhile, MIET College outclassed Bharti College of Education by (3-0). Abhishek Arora prevailed over Vickey by (11-3,11-3); Sumit Mahajan thrashed Sourav by (12-10, 11-2) and Kanav Sharma beat Dipesh by (11-3, 11-2).
In another match, Govt College of Education Jammu got walkover from Govt Degree College Kishtwar, GDC got walkover against Trikuta Degree College, GDC Paloura got it from GDC Poonch, Commerce College got walkover from GDC Rajouri and GGM Science College got walkover from Law School.
The tournament is being organized by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, under the overall supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Vinod Bakshi, Balbir Singh, Rajesh Verma, Narayani Jamwal, Mahesh Sharma, Sanjeev Jamwal, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, PD Singh and Jai Bharat.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gourav Sharma, Rekha Ratra and Suresh Sharma.
