MENDHAR, Oct 22: A villager was hospitalized after he was allegedly beaten up in NC office at Mendhar town last evening.
The victims identified as Haji Mohd Azam, son of Mohd Hussain has been admitted to Sub District Hospital Mendhar. The local police registered a FIR No 139/ 2015 against the NC Block president and Naib Sarpanch, Harmutta (Gursai) and started manhunt for him. The victim who had completed a work under MGNREGA worth Rs 50,000 in the area was demanding money as he had to make payments to the labourers. He had allegedly paid commission of Rs 15,000 to Panchayat secretary of BDO Block Mendhar, Haq Nawaz for the work as well but his payment was not released for the last over an year. When he insisted upon the NC leader and Naib Sarpanch (NC leader) to clear payment, he called him in NC office at Mendhar to settle the issue. During discussion, the NC leader allegedly attacked Haji Mohd Azam and beaten him up there. He sustained serious head injuries and was removed to Mendhar hospital. He got 18 stitches on his head.
The family members and relatives lodged and FIR against the NC leader and his associates. The police registered a case and started investigation. The BDO when contacted claimed that he was new to the office and had no knowledge about case but ACD Poonch, Dr Mohd Bashrat claimed that he will hold an inquiry and take action if his staff was found involved in demanding and taking huge commission or in any fraud.
