SRINAGAR, Jan 25: Police today said a man was charred to death and four structures were damaged in three separate fire incidents in north Kashmir.
A police spokesman said fire broke out in the shops of Ghulam Mohammad Lone and Bashir Ahmad Lone at Herri village of Kupwara district, resulting in complete damage to both the shops. “In the incident an unidentified person reportedly died due to burn injuries. Fire tenders bought fire under control with the help of police and locals,” the spokesman said.
He said police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC to ascertain the identity and cause of the death of a person who was charred to death in this incident.
The spokesman said fire broke out in the joint residential house of Showkat Ahmad Khan and Abdul Qayoom Khan at Ashtengoo village of Bandipora district, resulting in damage to the house.
He said in another incident, the fire broke out in the residential house of Mushtaq Ahmad Rather at Waza Mohalla in Ajas area Bandipora, resulting in partial damage to the house. “Fire tenders with the help of police and locals bought fire under control,” the police spokesman added.
