RAJOURI, Aug 8: A villager was killed in a road accident at Deri Lalyot village under Manjakote Police jurisdiction in district Rajouri this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place at around 4.30 pm, when the ill-fated car bearing registration number JK-12/ 6672 was on way to Poonch from Rajouri. Near Deri Lalyot, the speeding car went out of control and fell into a gorge.
The people of the area rushed to the spot for rescue operation. The police party from Manjakote also arrived there after some time. The seriously injured driver-was rushed to local Manjakote hospital, where he was declared as brought dead.
The deceased was later identified as Azeem Shah, son of Isha Shah, resident of Kanuiyan village in Poonch. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
