Man hacked to death over old rivalry

JAMMU, Mar 23: In order to settle an old rivalry, a group of people today hacked one person to death in Dablehar area of RS Pura town here.
A police spokesperson said that Rakesh Kumar son of Mela Ram of Bhalesar, Dablehar, RS Pura, was killed by a group of people, including two siblings, who have been arrested, while as manhunt has been launched to arrest the other persons involved in the crime, who are at large.
According to him, the accused purportedly killed Kumar to avenge the murder of one Vikram Singh, father of the siblings arrested by the police.
“The deceased was acquitted by the court in the murder of Vikram Singh,” he said, adding, “but since the accused believed he (deceased) was responsible for the murder of their father and that the judicial system failed them, they chopped off the hands of the accused near Divine Light Public School Dablehar today, resulting in the death of Kumar.”
While police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law at RS Pura Police Station two brothers identified as Ravinder Singh and Mahinder Singh have been arrested besides constitution of search teams to arrest the other accused involved in the crime.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
