RAMBAN, Oct 15: Police arrested brother of Democratic Nationalist Party (DPN) leader for impersonating as Vigilance Inspector and demanding bribe from the officials of Hydraulic Division, Ramban here today.
As per police sources, Majid Ali Shoken, son of Andul Rehman Shoken of district Doda visited the Hydraulic Division, Ramban pretending himself as Vigilance Inspector in the gypsy of the State Motor Garage (JK02U-1992), which was allotted to his brother, who happens to be the district president of Democratic Nationalist Party (DPN) Ali Mohammad Shoken.
The accused started scrutinizing the documents and demanded bribe from the officials. The officials became suspicious and called the Police Station Ramban.
After getting information, police team from Ramban Police Station rushed to the spot and arrested the accused.
A case under FIR number 139/14 under Sections 420, 419 and 389 RPC has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
Police team headed by SHO Ramban Police Station Dharminder Singh Katoch made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Ramban Javed Iqbal Mattoo.
