The Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Shamsher Hussain said that initially during interrogation they disclosed that they fled from their homes as they were fed up with the daily reprimanding by their parents over different issues including studies.
“However, during sustained interrogation one of the boys Shahid Ahmad Pir, son of Mohd Amin Pir revealed that he was motivated by one Faizan Nazir Mir, son of Nazir Ahmad Mir of Gulgam to cross LoC for obtaining training of arms and joining the militant ranks for better life”, said the SSP.
He said that Shahid further motivated his three associates Waheed Ahmad Gojree, Zeeshan Ahmad Lone and Ubaid Ahmad Gojree for crossing the LoC.
“Accordingly they chalked out a plan with the help of Faizan Nazir Mir about 15 days before their fleeing from their homes. As per their disclosure Faizan Mir has also clicked their photographs and told them that he will upload the same whenever they reach the other side of LoC so that they can be recognized by their handlers across. Then they procured eatables and other items required for their journey and accordingly on 26/06/2017 at about 1100hrs as per devised plan they left their houses towards LoC”, he said.
Due to the timely action of police their plan of crossing over LoC was foiled and they were intercepted before they reached the LoC. The parents of these boys and common citizens have eulogized the role of District Police Kupwara for their timely action and saving the lives of tender boys which may have set a bad precedent in this frontier district where this trend has stopped over the years.
