JAMMU, Aug 1: Former Member-Parliament, Shamsher Singh Manhas called on Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at New Delhi. He discussed various issues of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with him.
Manhas said that wide gap has been created between the people of J&K and the administration as the bureaucracy is not accessible to the masses as they are busy in their desk job.
He said policies should be formulated on the basis of ground reality. Back to village was an ambitious programme of the Government but results are nowhere on the ground. Manhas said that B2V should be continued and the recommendations of visiting officials should be taken seriously.
Manhas raised the issue of Targeted killings of Jammu based employees posted in the different parts of the Kashmir Valley. He asked Prime Minister to frame a comprehensive policy for their relocation.
Issue of daily-wagers posted in the various departments should be addressed immediately so that the interests and future of their families be safeguarded.
He also raised the issue of working of JKPSC & JKSSB which are working on snail’s pace and they are not able to finish the recruitment process on fast track basis.
Manhas said that the last ruler of J&K Maharaja Hari Singh signed the Instrument of Accession with Government of India and made J&K an integral part of India but the due respect which should be given to Maharaja Hari Singh hasn’t been given yet. He asked PM to consider the sentiments of the people of J&K and declare a public holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh i.e 23rd of September.
Start-Ups should be encouraged in the rural areas of J&K by extending the facility of finance with minimum documentation and a fixed amount must be embarked for Panchayats per year. The Enemy Property Act must be implemented in J&K, he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi after listening the issues raised by former Member-Parliament said that he will look into these issues on priority and they will be addressed.
