JAMMU, June 17: Member Parliament (MP) Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas today distributed free LPG connections among BPL families at a function organized by Bharat Petroleum at village Bhadrore, Block Marh, Jammu. He was accompanied by Ex-MLA Bharat Bhushan and Sarpanch Bhadrore Raghubir Singh.
More than 100 free gas connections were distributed on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, the MP said that Central and State Governments are committed to provide every basic amenity to the rural population. “It is a great responsibility of the NDA Government to provide basic amenities to the weaker section of the society, so that we will able to give strength and make them strengthen in every section,” he added.
He further said that providing free gas connections in the name of the female head of a household under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is a step to empower women besides protecting their health. He further said that scheme envisages to provide 8 crore free LPG connections to poor families across the country in 5 years.
On this occasion prominent people of the area were also present.
