Manipal Tigers defeats India Capitals by 4 wickets

JAMMU, Dec 2: Superb batting display by Colin de Grandhomme, Amit Verma and Thisara Perera guided Manipal Tigers to a thrilling victory by 4 wickets over India Capitals at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam today.
Chasing a big total of 186 runs, Manipal Tigers rode on the brilliance of the batting trio of Grandhomme, Verma and Perera to chase the target in an exciting finish on the penultimate ball of the match. Grandhomme showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up his fifty, scoring 58 off 35 balls studded with 3 boundaries and 4 massive sixes, while Verma contributed brisk 48 runs off 32 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Later, Thisara Perera’s fireworks took his side to home. He smashed 31 off 16 balls with 4 boundaries. Imran Khan also remained unconquered on 8 runs off 5 balls.
Earlier, batting first, India Capitals scored a good total of 186 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Bharath Chipli top scored with explosive 65 runs off 51 balls, studded with 8 fours and one six, while Ben Dunk contributed brisk 33 runs off 19 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes and Ashley Nurse contributed 12-ball 26 with one four and three sixes. Skipper Gautam Gambhir (8-ball 17) and Ricardo Powell (14) were the other contributors.
