JAMMU, Dec 9: Asela Gunsrarne and Thisara Perera overwhelmed Rikki Clarke’s magnificence with the willow and Stuart Binny’s brilliance with the ball, guiding Manipal Tigers to 5-wicket win and emerge Champions of the Legends League Cricket at Lalabhai Contractor Stadium Surat today.
Earlier, batting first, Urbanrisers Hyderabad scored a good total of 187 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process.
Rikki Clarke scored power-packed 80 runs off 52 balls, studded with 6 fours and 4 sixes. He displayed sublimity, solidity, fluidity and elegance in his splendid knock, while Gurkeerat Singh contributed explosive 64 runs off 36 balls with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes. Dwayne Smith and P Trego contributed 21 and 17 runs to the total respectively. For Manipal Tigers, Pankaj Singh took 2 wickets while McClenaghan and Thisara Perera claimed one wicket each.
Chasing a big total, Manipal Tigers sailed on splendid contributions with the willow by the quartet of Asela Gunaratne, Robin Uthappa, Angelo Perera and Thisara Perera to emerge victorious by 5 wickets, thus lifting the title trophy. Gunaratne top scored with unbeaten 51 off 29 balls with 5 sixes, while Robin Uthappa, Angelo Perera, Chadwick Walton and Thisara Perera contributed brisk 40, 30, 29 and 25 runs to the total respectively. For Urbanrisers Hyderabad, Stuart Binny was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3 wickets by conceding 20 runs, while Shadab Jakati and Jerome Taylor claimed one wicket each.
