AKHNOOR, July 8: Left-handed batsman Manish Dogra and Ambidextrous All-rounder Soumay Jain helped Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor to drub Friends Cricket Club Akhnoor by 32 runs to enter the finals of the ongoing 4th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School ground, Akhnoor, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Singh Club posted a formidable total of 184 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Manish Dogra slammed 56 runs off 27 balls, studded with 11 boundaries and one six, while Soumay Jain scored quick-fire 50 runs in just 19 balls with the help of 3 fours and 5 sixes. Surinder Singh and Manik contributed 28 and 14 runs to the total respectively. For Friends Club, Vipan Verma claimed 3 wickets by conceding 14 runs in his 4 overs, while Amit, Arun and Jaipal picked one wicket apiece.
Friends Club, in reply, managed to score 153 runs in the allotted overs, thus lost the match by 32 runs. Jaipal Singh was the top scorer with 22 runs, while Balbir Singh and Narinder Pal contributed 20 runs each. Speedster Rohit Sharma and off-spinner Jatin Wadhavan captured 2 wickets each, while Seam bowler Soumay Jain, skipper Sham Singh Langeh and Manish Dogra claimed one wicket apiece. Soumay Jain was adjudged man of the match for his power-packed half-century.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Joginder Mangotra as umpires, while Vikas Bali maintained the scorebook.
