UDHAMPUR, Jan 1: An album of Dogri song “Cheete Aande Sajna De”, sung by local singer Poly Gupta, was released here by Balwant Singh Mankotia, former MLA and State president Panthers Party.
In his address, Mankotia lauded the talent of the local artists and said that the way they were promoting Dogri language by their efforts, was appreciable.
He appealed the locals present there to make their children to speak Dogri as it will help to promote local language.
Mankotia made an appeal to the Government to take necessary steps and make suitable policies to promote local language and motivate the talent of local artists.
He also expressed anguish over the discrimination again done with Jammu region in recently advertised teacher posts by JKSSB
In last, Mankotia recalled his experience of taking oath for MLA in 2002 in Dogri language for the first time in the history of J&K Assembly.
Others, who were present on the occasion, included Surinder Manhas (music director), Rajinder Singh, Ghushu Sallan, Tarun Chauhan, Prikshit Khajuria, Bhanu Khajuria and Sanjeet Bavoria.
