Manohar distributes relief among rain affected families

KATHUA, Aug 18: Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma distributed tents and ration among the rain affected families at Mandli of tehsil Billawar today.
SDM Billawar Dr Vikas Gupta, SDPO Basohli Rafiq Manhas, Tehsildar Billawar, Naib Tehsildar and staff of the Revenue Department were present on the occasion.
Dr Sharma distributed 110 tents, 100 bags (of 50 kg) of rice among the families whose dwellings have been damaged partially or completely in recent incessant rains.
Dr Manohar, while speaking on the occasion, informed that over 500 cases of house collapse (partial and fully) have been reported in district Kathua and efforts are on to give preliminary relief to the affected families. He called upon the revenue officials to immediately complete the process of assessing the damages of the affected families so that appropriate relief can be given to the aggrieved families. He assured the people that Government will provide every possible help to the rain and flood affected families.
The Minister said that directions have been issued to PWD, PHE and Flood Control Departments to restore the facilities in the areas affected by the heavy rains at the earliest.
Dr Sharma disclosed that affected families have been temporarily shifted to Government School buildings, Panchayat Ghars and Common Facility Centres for safety.
