Mantaquee Sports Awantipora lifts Martyr Altaf Dar Memorial Cricket Tourney title

SRINAGAR, May 21: Mantaquee Sports Awantipora registered 4 wickets win over Umer Cricket Club Parigam and clinched the title of Martyr Altaf Dar Memorial Cricket Tournament, organized by Jammu and Kashmir Police at DPL Pulwama.
Batting first after winning the toss, Umer Cricket Club Parigam scored 140 runs for all out in 20 overs.
In the second inning, Mantaquee Sports Awantipora chased the target for the loss of 6 wickets in just 16.3 overs.
Mohammad Shafi of Mantaquee Sports Awantipora was declared as Man of the Match for scoring 41 runs in just 20 balls. Parvaiz Ahmed of Umer Cricket Club Parigam was adjudged as Man of the Series for scoring 180 runs and clinching 22 wickets.
On the occasion, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, SP Pulwama while speaking promised to render all possible help to develop sports culture in Pulwama so that the area would become hub of sports activities in future. He also said mega sports tournaments are now being organised in State in general and in Pulwama in particular to groom the sports talent among the local youth.
While highlighting the role of youth in nation building, Rayees Mohammad Bhat said that they should channelize their energies towards the betterment of the whole society.
While speaking, Neeraj Kumar, DC Pulwama promised to help District Police for the development of sports infrastructure in the district.
Among others present were Organizing Committee head Choudhary Iftkhar Ahmed, DySP DAR Pulwama, Azhar Bashir Baba, Additional SP Pulwama, Sayed Sajad Qadri, ACR Pulwama, Mohammad Shafiq, DySP Operations Pulwama and other senior officers of police and civil administration.
