JAMMU, Mar 31: “Due to recent heavy and unseasonal snowfall many far flung villages of hilly districts like Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Anantnag, Kulgam, Qazigund are still disconnected from other parts of the Country and the Government is doing nothing on ground to restore links of these areas with nearby towns except making statements in the media”, said State president, J&K Gujjar Bakkerwal Desh Youth Body (GBDYB), Nazakat Khatana.
Addressing media persons today, Khatana said during his tour to snow affected areas including Chenab Valley, Peer Panjal area, Kokernag and Pahalgam, he found that people are living miserable life as many villages are still disconnected, there is no electricity and water and no body is there to help them.
He alleged that people particularly Gujjar and Bakkerwals are facing shortage of ration, kerosene, medicines and other essentials and on the top of that Government and its representatives are busy in election campaigning and making hollow statements instead of doing something on the ground to redress their grievances.
Khatana also demanded the Government to allow the movement of nomads to their summer dhokes with their animals before April 20, 2014.
