Marathon dedicated to dignity, pride of Indian women on Feb 17

Office bearers of Board of Development for Sports in India addressing media persons in Jammu on Saturday.

JAMMU, Feb 9: The Board of Development for Sports in India, is going to organize the 4th Jammu Marathon, dedicated to the dignity and pride of the Indian women, on February 17 in Jammu.
The Marathon, wherein galaxy of Bollywood stars are expected to take part, will be flagged off by Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din in the presence of Minister for Culture, Raman Bhalla and Member Parliament, Madan Lal at 9 am from MA Stadium, Jammu.
This was disclosed by Amit Sethi, Director, Board of Development for Sports in India while addressing media persons at Press Club, here today.
He said the Marathon after passing through BC Road, Amphalla, CPO Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Parade, Shalamar, Gummat, Vivekanand Chowk and Dogra Chowk will culminate at MA Stadium.
Mr Sethi further said that the Marathon will be divided into male and female categories and the winners from each category will be awarded Rs 21000, Rs 11000 and Rs 5100 for first, second and third position respectively.
He said a colourful entertainment programme will be organized for the participants, adding that Rs 100 will be the registration fee and the registered participant will be provided a complimentary T-Shirt from the organizers.
Veena Handa, Chairperson Handa College of Education also addressed the media persons and said that what smacks a blissful feeling is that the Marathon is dedicated to the dignity and pride of Indian women.
Gambir Singh Charak, member organizing committee said the Bollywood stars to take part in the event include famous actress Tia Bajpai, Manini Dey Mishra, Bidita Bag, Dolly Ahluwalia, Brijendra Kala, Raghubir Yadav and Veerain Saxena.
Vimal Manchanda also addressed the media and appealed the youth for more and more participation in the event.
Others present on the occasion were Sagar Gupta, Sanjay Gupta, Surinder Kumar Yadav, Sukh meet Kaur, Kannav Padha, Harminder Singh and Kulwant Singh Bali.
