POONCH, Nov 8: Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma Cricket Tournament kicked off today at Pritam Singh Stadium, organized by the 93 Infantry Brigade in collaboration with the 25 RR Mandi Battalion. This event, dedicated to the memory of the brave martyr Major Rohit Sharma, will continue till November 16, with various teams competing for the championship title.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Tehsildar Mandi Ashfaq Hussain, National Hockey player Abhilove Kaur Mehta, and RDCA Chairman Pervaiz Malik Afridi. Tehsildar Hussain commended the players’ dedication and highlighted the role of sports in building values like teamwork and discipline. Mehta emphasized the importance of such tournaments in inspiring young athletes.
The tournament began with a lively match between Limbra Club Chakrara and Mandi Club, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd. The event features local clubs and schools, giving young cricketers a platform to showcase their skills while honoring Major Sharma’s legacy through competitive sportsmanship.
