Masrat arrest was not late- Rajnath

Defending the Jammu and Kashmir government, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has denied charges that Masrat Alam’s arrest came late and claimed that the process to arrest him had already started earlier.      Talking to reporters here, Mr Singh said  that probably Jammu and Kashmir government didn’t have idea that such an Anti India rally would be held. “But, as soon as pro- Pakistan slogans were raised, action was initiated,” he stated.     Mr Singh , however , was confident that PDP-BJP government will function smoothly in the valley. The Union Minister said that he had talked to the  J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed over the issue.     “Our government will not compromise on national security and J&K government will act against such people, ” he said, while assuring people of the country that those indulging in Anti national activities would be dealt with an iron hand.    Mr Singh was in Kanpur and Kanpur Dehat districts to assess crop loss in the area due to rains.
