UDHAMPUR, Sept 10: Two massive landslides struck Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Nashri and Kheri today halting vehicular movement on the road, which is already closed for traffic to Kashmir for the last seven days.
According to SSP National Highway, Hasib Mughal, massive landslides took place at Nashri this evening around 7 p.m. and at Kheri, around 4 kilometers from Udhamnpur towards Kud, this afternoon.
Even as the debris on the National Highway at Kheri was cleared for restoration of traffic movement after a few hours, landslides at Nashri were continuing and the mound was still moving down till the last reports came in, he added.
Subject to fair weather, the restoration work at Nashri will be taken up by the Leighton Construction company tomorrow morning but only after the landslides stop taking place. And even after the restoration work is started tomorrow, it will take around three days for clearance of the road for plying traffic, the SSP informed.
For the time being, the authorities are contemplating to allow movement of light vehicles via Sinthan from tomorrow.
Pertinent to mention here that the Jammu- Srinagar National Highway is already closed for  vehicular movement for the last seven days due to blockage of the road at Ransoo and Sangni but the traffic was plying up to Ramban.
While restoration work at Sangni has been completed almost 80 percent, around 50 percent work is still left at Ransoo.
The fresh landslides have now blocked the National Highway at three different places.
