Srinagar, Sept 17: Security forces today resumed search operation in the dense forests near Line of Control (LoC) in the frontier district of Kupwara, where troops killed two infiltrators in Macchil sector early yesterday.
The search operation by security forces was suspended last night due to darkness and was resumed with the first light this morning.
Security forces have sealed the entire forest area to ensure no militant has managed to sneak in. Sources, however, said that two to three colleagues of the killed militants managed to flee back to PoK.
No fresh contact was established with the militants after the first encounter immediately after a group of infiltrators sneaked into this side from PoK in Macchil sector early yesterday.
A large number of trained militants are waiting in launch pads near the LoC to sneak into this side before the infiltration routes are closed due to snowfall. However, troops, already on high alert, have intensified night and foot patrolling to thwart any infiltration attempt.
