RAJOURI, Feb 9: While the mastermind behind the fake gun licenses racket busted in Sunderbani area on Wednesday slipped away during police raid last night from Taryath area of Kalakote, the Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Suleman Choudhary today constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the case.
Sources said that after sustained interrogation of nine arrested youth from Kalakote area, Sunderbani Police received information about the kingpin and main-mastermind of the racket at Taryath. The police party raided the house where he was hiding but the accused managed to slip away.
The sources further revealed that this kingpin who was also in contact with some gun manufacturers/dealers in Jammu, Rajouri and Punjab, turned rich in short span of time. He was charging money ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 for making gun license and many unemployed youth of the area purchased weapons and got employment in banks, security agencies and other Corporate offices in Jammu, Delhi, Chandigarh and even at Mumbai and Chennai after managing fake license through him.
These youth were planning to go to Punjab for purchasing guns as 13 such licenses had been recovered from them during raid at Sunderbani hotel. Their many associates have managed jobs outside the State on the basis of these fake licenses. They also revealed that after getting gun license they get double salary from the companies or banks/ Corporate Houses where they were working.
Meanwhile, SSP Rajouri Suleman Choudhary and ASP Nowshera , Atul Sharma when contacted said that investigation in the matter was in progress. They said that arrested youth have provided some vital clues and the police was working on the same.
They disclosed that SIT led by SDPO Kalakote, Nawaz Chouhan and assisted by SHO Sunderbani and two more Police officers, has been constituted to investigate the case in detail. They assured to share more details after some further progress is achieved in the case.
