JAMMU, Dec 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with the Badminton Association of J&K, inaugurated the Masters’ Badminton Tournament-2024 at the Police Line Badminton Hall, Gulshan Ground, Jammu.
The event was graced by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, as the chief guest. Gulzar Singh Slathia, former IGP, was the guest of honour, and Balbir Jamwal, General Secretary of the Badminton Association of J&K, also attended the ceremony.
During the inauguration, ADGP Anand Jain praised the players for their active participation and highlighted the significance of sports in promoting a healthy lifestyle and combating the issue of drug addiction. He emphasized that such tournaments not only improve physical fitness but also promote unity and camaraderie among participants.
The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 100 Master Badminton players representing various districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Matches on the opening day were conducted under the supervision of Sukhdev Singh, in-charge of the Police Line Badminton Hall, and officiated by Anil Gurkha, Sunil Gurkha, and S. Saravanan.
The event has garnered significant attention and is set to continue with exciting matches throughout the tournament.
