JAMMU, Oct 11: Mayank Gupta slammed a cracking century (143 off 126 balls), studded with 21 fours and 1 six, while Uday Saharan contributed valuable 62 runs as Punjab scored a good total of 330 runs in their first innings of the 3-day Vijay Merchant Under-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at Dhruv Pandov, Patiala in Punjab.
In reply, Jammu and Kashmir were struggling at 12/2 at the draw of stumps on Day-1 today. Opener Zayd Faisal Agha was unbeaten on 4, while Rohan Gill (6) and Adishwer Singh Kotwal (0) were sent back early in the innings. Skipper Manroop Singh took both the wickets for Punjab.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Punjab rode on magnificent knocks by Mayank and Uday and scored 330 runs in 77.1 overs. Sanraj Singh (35) and Shivein Rakheja (31) were the other contributors for Punjab. For Jammu and Kashmir, Ranjot Singh took 3 wickets, while Azhar Amin Wani, skipper Udhay Partap Singh, Mohd Amaan and Adishwar Singh Kotwal claimed 1 wicket each.
