JAMMU, Mar 22: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta along with Ashok Singh Manhas, Councillor Ward 59 here today inaugurated Garbage Transfer Station near crematorium at Mohalla Mandlik Nagar in Paloura which has been completed with an expenditure of Rs. 27 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that the Garbage Transfer Station will be beneficial for adjoining three Wards and the wet garbage collected here will be further taken to Solid Waste Plant after segregation with the help of compactors.
He claimed that JMC is out to provide the best possible development and civic amenities with active support of the Councillors in each Ward especially after the public representatives to the urban local bodies were elected in the year 2018.
The Mayor further told that seven Garbage Transfer Stations have already been constructed at available sites in various Wards of the city so that no garbage remains in open to create unhygienic conditions.
He said that apart from this, JMC has also deployed sufficient number of autos and e-rickshaws for door-to-door garbage collection in each Ward of the city.
Gupta urged upon the general public to avoid throwing garbage and waste in open and use the designated municipal autos for the same.
