JAMMU, May 14: Media Cricket Club (MCC) Jammu beats Income Tax XI in a friendly T20 Cricket match played, here today.
Income Tax XI won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bowlers of Income Tax XI gave initial break through as MCC Jammu was reeling at 28 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. But few good partnerships revived the innings of MCC Jammu.
Varun scored 38 runs, Shyam 29 runs and Pawan made 21 runs. For Income Tax XI, Tarzen Sharma took 3 wickets, Hardeep Singh took 2 wickets whereas Mukesh, Sunil and Harveer shared 1 wicket each.
Chasing 164 runs in stipulated 20 overs, Income Tax XI set the tone of the chase with aggressive stroke play especially their Captain Shakeel Ahmed who dispatched bowlers to all parts of the ground. But a brilliant run out by Ankush at 53 runs gave an opening to MCC Jammu to come back into the game as Captain Ashish Singh utilizes his bowlers wisely and wickets fell in heaps for Income Tax XI and run rate kept on increasing.
With 35 runs required in last 12 balls, Rajesh and Mukesh Panu scored 17 runs in 19th over and 18 runs were required in last 6 balls. But Ashish Singh kept his cool despite being hit for six and got rid of both the last batsmen giving MCC Jammu a victory by 8 runs.
Shakeel Ahmed scored 42 runs, Mukesh 25 runs and Rajesh made 23 runs for Income Tax XI. For MCC Jammu, Ashish Singh took 3 wickets, Pawan and Varun took 2 wickets while Fahim and Manjeet shared 1 wicket each.
Varun of MCC Jammu was declared as Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
