JAMMU, Dec 24: Media -XI trounced Aircel-XI in 5th Aircel Media cup 2016 by a margin of 15 runs at KC Public School Ground, Akhnoor Road, Paloura, here.
The match was organized by the Chander Pruthi, Marketing Head, Aircel J&K circle.
After winning toss, Media- XI team, led by skipper, Mir Imran elected to bat first and made 129 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Jagdeep Singh scored highest 30 runs in 39 balls while Faheem Tak scored 28 in 25 balls.
For Aircel-XI side, Rakesh Jamwal took 3 wickets by giving 22 runs in 4 overs while Ajay Jamwal took 2 wickets by giving 9 runs in 2 overs. Nikhil Dev and Anand Tripathi took 1 wicket each in their 4 overs’ spell.
Chasing the target, Aircel-XI, led by Anand Tripathi could make only 114 run, thus losing the match to Media-XI by a margin of 15 runs.
Anand Tripathi played highest 40 runs’ inning in 37 balls while Kewal Kotwal scored 38 runs in 33 balls. Ranjeet Singh, Yash Khajuria from Media -Xi took 3 wickets each in 4 overs.
Fine 2 overs’ spell of Vivek Suri taking 2 wickets turned the match to the basket of Media-XI. Ashu Mehra and Ashu Srivastav took 1 wicket each in their two overs’ spell.
Ranjeet Singh was adjudged as Man of the Match for his overall performance with 3 wickets and 19 runs to his credit.
Complementing Media -XI for promoting sports and initiating the movement against drug, he said such associations need to be boosted and Government should financially help such sports club for larger cause.
Later, the guest of honour Jaswinder Singh distributed trophies among the players of both teams.
Rajinder Singh and Ashok were the field umpires, while Altaf Hussain Janjua and Varun Gupta maintained the scoreboard.
Sachin Singh, Manager; Dinesh Mahajan and Ajay Raina, coordinators were also felicitated on the occasion.
