SRINAGAR, May 19: Army organized a medical and awareness camp at Sanctorum College of Education, Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to an official statement issued here said that the Army’s 52 RR organized the camp under the title of “Maa Tujhe Salaam” with special emphasis on creating awareness about health, nutrition, child care and pre and post natal care of pregnant ladies.
More than 10 specialist doctors were also present on the spot to provide medical advice and medicines to the people.
“General lack of awareness amongst the locals, especially the women folk on health related issues pertaining especially to children and pregnant ladies is predominant. Women at the same instance are not aware of their rights and privileges and about various initiatives by the Government to empower them”, the official said.
He said that a request and representation from the locals had been received by the Army for organising such an event to spread awareness, which the Army took into its folds.
The official said that the Major General Asit Mistry, General Officer Commanding CIF (K) alongwith Mira Mistry graced the occasion and extended their full support to the initiative. The event was also attended by prominent personalities from Civil Administration and medical fields.
He said that Dr Mudaser Khazir, Dr Syed Salman, Ex-CMO, Baramulla, Farzana Mumtaz, and Vijender Jamwal, District Nodal Officer, Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute were also present to spread awareness about various schemes by the Government.
The students of Sanctorum School also participated in the event with lot of fervour and enthusiasm and contributed their bit towards spreading awareness about health benefits.
The large gathering of about 1200 persons including ladies and children present on the occasion were appreciative of the efforts of the Army for their genuine concerns in upliftment and development of the society.
