Medical employees highlight demands, stage dharna

KATHUA, May 9: After hectic tour of hilly areas of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban, Jammu and  Kashmir Medical Employees Federation today staged a day-long dharna at CMO office Kathua.
A number of Medical employees from Kathua district took part in the dharna under the leadership of Federation president Sushil Sudan and submitted a memorandum to Chief Medical Officer, Kathua highlighting their demands.
These demands included immediate clearance of DPC of various categories and filling up of vacant posts in Health and Family Welfare Department, release of salary under 2211 head of Family Welfare employees working under new pension scheme and consolidated Safaiwalas who are without wages for the last five to 20 months, rank promotion of FMPHWs at par with other categories, creation of posts of District Pharmacy officers, Block Pharmacy Officers, etc.
The Federation also demanded enhancement of FTA in favour of Basic Health Workers from Rs 45 to Rs 1000 per month, bringing pay of CHOs at par with Central Grades, risk allowance to all categories working in Health Department, sanction of uniform allowance, regularization of all pending cases, two and half day extra pay incentive to all non-gazetted and ministerial staff.
While addressing the dharna, Sushil Sudan said that authorities were not fulfilling genuine demands of the Medical employees thus forcing them to adopt agitational path.
Others, who addressed the dharna, included Vinod Kumar Sharma, Jarnail Choudhary, Balkar Singh, Surinder Sharma, Narinder Tony, Jasdev Singh, Anil Ratta, Krishan Kumar, Ravi Singh, Mohinder, Yogesh, Rajesh Badu, Anuradha, Sushma, Sharda Devi, Sanjay Verma, Manohar Lal, Bholi Devi and Joginder Lal.
