JAMMU, Nov 17: Meenal Gupta of KV Sunjwan claimed first position, while, Akriti Kotwal and Vilas Kotwal secured second and third positions in the Rs 10000 cash prize under 13 age group Chess Tournament organised by All J&K Chess Association here today.
A cash prize of Rs 5,000 was presented to Meenal Gupta, whereas, Akriti Kotwal and Vilas Kotwal were conferred with Rs 3,000 and Rs 1,000 cash prizes respectively.
Arushi Kotwal and Prabhnoor Singh bagged fourth and fifth positions and a cash prize of Rs 500 each was presented to them.
On the occasion, Sukhwinder Singh, Proprietor, Panjstar Trading Corporation, who was the chief guest, distributed the cash prizes among the winners in presence of Sanjay Ahuja, Ajit Singh, Arbiter of the event, Atul Kumar Gupta, State president, All J&K Chess Association, Baldev Raj, secretary and other officials of the associations.
While speaking, Atul Kumar Gupta informed that the championship was organised to provide platform to the budding chess players. He added that 42 players participated in the Championship including 4 rated players.
