JAMMU, Nov 1: Continuing their oldest tradition of organizing Dangal since 1952, Panj Pir Dangal Committee organized Dangal at Bhagwati Nagar area near fourth Bridge Chowk, here. State Vice President BJP and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while DC Jammu Simradeep Singh was the guest of honour.
Around 100 bouts were held in the event and winners were awarded with cash prizes, with Rs 21,000 for the winner and Rs 11,000 for the runners-up wrestler.
Addressing the gathering, Sat Sharma said that to give a proper shape to the infrastructure pertaining to this sport and other sports, a proposal of Mini Stadium is already in process and DPR’s (Detailed Project Reports) are being prepared for the same with the help of DC Jammu so that soon a new sports complex could be prepared and facilities should be provided to players of various streams of sports.
Simrandeep Singh assured the MLA and the public that the work for the Stadium will start soon and a separate court will also be provided to Dangal players inside the Stadium.
The chief guest and the guest of honour were also honoured by the Dangal Committee on the occasion.
Jankar Singh, Pt. Gian Chand Sharma, Parmod Kapahi, Praduman Singh, Karan Sat Sharma, Manzoor Ahmed, Pardeep Singh, Ashok Singh, Farman Ali, Harbans Singh, Jeet Angral, Sanjay Sawhney, Ravi Kiran, Sanjeev Sharma, Jatin Sethi, Munish Gupta, Atul Bakshi, Rohit Bawa and Ankush Sharma were present on the occasion.
