Mehbooba supports demands of migrants, condemns use of force

JAMMU, Sept 4: Strongly condemning brutal use of force on Kashmiri Pandit migrants at Jagti township, president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti today regretted that instead of adopting human approach to solve genuine problems of migrants, the State Government has used oppressive means to stifle their voice.
In a statement issued here today, she  said that using oppressive means to suppress voice of people has become a policy of the  Government headed by National Conference. She said that every sections of the society were bearing brunt of this oppressive policy of the Coalition Government. She regretted that inmates of Jagti town ship were protesting peacefully for their genuine demands but brutal force was used on them in which a number of migrants received severe injuries.
While supporting the demand of the enhancement of the cash relief of migrants, Mehbooba Mufti said that PDP was very much aware that Kashmiri Pandit community has been facing lot of hardship due to their displacement from their homes and hearths. She regretted that employment package announced by the Centre for the Kashmiri Pandit was not properly utilized. She further said that on the one hand State Government has not taken effective step for the rehabilitation of the KPs while on the other Central assistance announced for the displaced community was not properly utilized.
On the directions of party president, a delegation of PDP leaders led by Ved Mahajan visited Jagti township and assured the migrants that PDP fully support their demands.
While addressing the migrants, Mahajan flayed the National Conference (NC) coalition regime for its failure to solve problems being faced by the displaced Kashmir Pandit (KP) community living in different parts of Jammu region.
