JAMMU, Dec 7: A brilliant century by Mehrab Ahmed Mir and strong batting performances from Asif Muzaffar, Salman Ahmad Mir, and Shiva Thakur guided Jammu and Kashmir to a solid 307/2 on Day 1 of the Men’s U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy against Bengal at JKCA Hostel ground.
J&K, batting first, made a strong start with a 117-run opening partnership between Salman Ahmed Bakshi (56 off 121 balls) and Mehrab (126 off 208 balls, including 19 fours and a six). Asif remained unbeaten on 81 off 136 balls (7 fours, 1 six), while Shiva was on 40 off 88 balls (3 fours, 2 sixes). Bengal’s Vishal Bhati claimed both wickets that fell. J&K ended the day well-positioned with 307/2 in 92.2 overs.
