Mercury soars in Jammu, temp crosses 40 degrees

JAMMU:
The mercury started rising in this winter capital of the State with the temperature crossing 40 degrees Celsius today.
“The temperature for the second time crossed 40 Degree Celsius mark in this season and it was the hottest day so far,” a MET official here said.
He said the maximum temperature recorded today was 41.5 degrees, adding, “the temperature will rise in the coming days.”
He further added that though the temperature fluctuated between 36 degrees to 38 degrees earlier and it also decreased in the last days due to fresh snowfall at upper reaches in Bhaderwah and Kashmir Valley.
People, however, preferred to stay indoor while the two-wheeler riders covered their face to protect themselves from the heat wave. (AGENCIES)
