Leh, Mar 12: The 1st Late Haji Mussa Groungjuk Memorial Archery Tournament was lifted by MG Tambis in Modern Archery and Sarchey in Traditional Archery.
The tournament was organised by Ladakh Blood Donors Youth to educate the people about blood donations and to register new Blood Donors.
On this occasion, Registrar University of Ladakh Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho was the cheif guest, while as Dr Haji Ali Pathologist and Superintendent District Hospital Kargil was the guest of honour and President AKTTA Ashraf Ali was the speical guest.
Dr Haji Ali while appreciating the efforts of Ladakh Blood Donors during emergencies in the last one year said that people should come forward to donate blood which is one of the noblest donation one does.
Congratulating the teams, Dr Haji Ali announced Rs 2000 to each of the winner teams and hoped that all the players and spectators present on this occasion will become new blood donors.
The chief guest of the occasion while appriciatng the efforts of Nasir Zaidi, owner and Director STV Ladakh for starting the first Blood Donor Whatts App Group “Ladakh Blood Donors” in February 2020 and said that using social media as a tool and staring a Wats App Group for blood donation is a great Idea and said that he was amazed to know that through the group more than 222 units of blood has been arranged at District Hospital Kargil with above 300 active blood donors and volunteers as members.
He also thanked and appreciated the Ladakh blood donors for organizing the tournament in the name of Late Haji Mussa Groungjuk which will be a great tribute to the noble soul who always remains active in volunteering blood donation.
Imteeaz Ahmad Kacho further said that University of Ladakh will soon start its annual sports activities in all its constituent colleges and will soon step in to register its presence in this sector also.
Its pertinent to mention here that the Ladakh Blood Donor has arranged more than 65 Pints of blood during the lockdown.
Late Haji Mussa Groungjuk was the first person in Kargil who started blood donation and as per Haji Mohammad Ali, from Senior Lab Technician Blood Bank Kargil Haji Mussa used to donate blood more than 2 times in the period of 3 months.
During the Archery tournament the general public were informed about the necessity to come forward in times of need to donate blood along with sensitization programmes at the venue.
The programme is the first of its kind in the District where volunteers have joined together to aware the people about the noble cause of blood donation as well as volunteerism in the society.
Later the chief guest and other guests presented awards and mementos amongst the winner and runner up teams.
Special reorganization award was also presented to Senior Lab Technician of Blood Bank Kargil for his contribution in this noble cause.
