JAMMU, Feb 28: MGCA-A defeated Academy-B XI by a narrow margin of 12 runs in a high scoring Under-14 boys exhibition cricket match, organized by Shashi Pal, under the auspices of Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy (MGCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
The match was organized with an objective to provide opportunity to the budding cricketers to hone their skill by playing in a 40-over game.
Winning the toss and batting first, MGCA-A scored a decent total of 213 runs in the stipulated 40 overs by losing 9 wickets. Kanaihya Wadhawan was the top scorer with unbeaten 56 runs, while Vasu and Aarush contributed 22 and 21 runs to the total respectively. Tanveer and Cherain also chipped in with 12 and 10 runs respectively. For Academy-B team, Arin Sharma took 4 wickets, while Praful Dhar bagged 2 wickets. Sayam and Abhinav also claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Academy-B team managed to score 201 runs by losing all their wickets 31 overs, thus lost the match by 12 runs. Praful Dhar was the top scorer with 35 runs, while Arjun Parth and Prashmit contributed 31 and 27 runs to the total respectively. Arun Tak also chipped in with 16 runs, while Arin and Sumit made 10 and 8 runs respectively. For MGCA-A team, Kanaihya took 4 wickets, while Tarun claimed 2 and Karan bagged one.
