JAMMU, May 12: Outplaying Jai Hind Cricket Club convincingly in the summit clash, Mayank Goswami Cricket Club (MGCC) lifted the title trophy of the Friendship Cup Cricket Tournament, organized by Sunil Kumar, Cricket Coach of MGCA at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Ankush Abrol, Working Committee Member Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) and Vice President Youth National Conference was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Rajesh Dhar, Chairman Media Committee JKCA and Dr Vikas Sharma, President National Secular Forum were the guests of honour.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, MGCC scored a decent total of 248 runs in the stipulated 38 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Sahil Mahotra and Shubham Singh Pundir slammed brilliant half-centuries (50 each), while Surya Mahotra contributed valuable 42 runs. All the three batsmen were in sublime touch and hit the ball with fluidity and grace. For Jai Hind Cricket Club, Harman Singh took 2 wickets, while Pranav Gupta and Aryan Dogra claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Jai Hind Cricket Club managed to score 170 runs in the allotted overs by losing 3 wickets, thus lost the match by a big margin of 78 runs.   Pranav Gupta played a magnificent innings of 68 runs, while Aryan Chopra and Aryan Dogra contributed 24 and 23 runs to the total respectively. For Mayank Goswami Cricket Club, Shubham Singh Pundir, Sampark Gupta nad Rohan Koul claimed one wicket apiece. Shubham Singh Pundir was adjudged as man of the match, while Surya Mahotra bagged the awards of best batsmen and man of the series for scoring a total of 146 runs in the three matches with the contributions of 46, 58 and 42 runs. Sampark Gupta was declared as the best bowler for taking 5 wickets in the Tournament. Nityam Abrol was named as the most talented youngster of the Tournament.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Sachin Singh, Ashok Singh and Deepak as umpires, while Shiv Kumar and Sohan Bharti were the scorer and commentator respectively.
The chief gust and the guests of honour presented trophies and medals among the players of the winning and the runners-up teams on the occasion.
