MGNREGA staff urges Governor to frame job policy for them

Srinagar, Feb 24: Staff working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) today urged Government to frame a comprehensive policy for them which encompasses job security.
Shahnawaz Hussain, chairman MGNREGA Association said that the staff was engaged in 2007-2008 following a selection by District Selection Board framed by Rural Development Department of the State Government.
“Most of the staff is now overage for any Government job as such cannot apply for fresh jobs. Thus the Government needs to provide job security to us,” Hussain said and urged Governor N N Vohra to intervene and have a comprehensive job policy for them on the pattern of CIC operators, Rehbar-e-Zirat, Rehbar-e-Taleem and MPWs.
He said that the staff is high qualified and includes engineers, DRS, PO, MIS computer operators, etc.
