Mian Altaf, others meet Vohra

SRINAGAR, July 23: Mian Altaf Ahmed, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, called on Governor, N N Vohra here at Raj Bhawan.
Besides environmental issues, the Governor and Mian Altaf Ahmed reviewed the current status of the Srinagar-Sonamarg road and the pending forest clearances for the projected Zojila Tunnel project. The Governor and Mian Altaf discussed matters relating to the recent incidents at Baltal and the need to ensure smooth conduct of the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2014.
Member J&K Legislative Assembly, M Y Tarigami, called on the Governor N N Vohra and spoke to him about the obtaining political environment, trans-border factors, the forthcoming elections to the State Legislature and the high importance of maintaining peace and normalcy in the State.
Meanwhile Prof Sudhir K Jain, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) called on the Governor at Raj Bhawan and briefed him about the uptodate status of the ongoing infrastructure development projects, teaching programmes and admissions to the academic session 2014-15, steps being taken to fill up vacant faculty position, measures underway to boost research activities in various departments and the sports and cultural activities’ calendar for 2014-15.
The Governor stressed the importance of sustained initiatives being taken to improve the standards of teaching and research at all levels in the university.
The National president of Yuval ok Janshakti Party, Sanjay Saraf, called on Governor N N Vohra and discussed with him issues relating to protection of migrant property in the valley and Prime Minister’s Rehabilitation Package for return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley. He also apprised the Governor about the problems and issues relating to development of Habbakadal Assembly Constituency of Srinagar in Kashmir.
