JAMMU, Apr 25: Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) celebrated ‘Spring Festival’ with enthusiasm and fervour, here today.
The chief guest on the occasion was Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER whereas Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER was the guest of honour.
Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, Rupa Gupta, Member Managing Committee, Ruchika Gupta, Project Director Humming Buds, Dr Annie Kaul, HoD B Ed Deptt, Rajendra Parveen, HoD, B Ed Spl Deptt, Dr Chitra Mishra, Principal, Model Academy and Vice Principal, Usha Gadoo.

Students from the school and the college of education presented a cultural bonanza highlighting the theme of spring season.
The programme commenced with a group song ‘Jab Jab Aati Hai Baisakhi’ presented by the school choir.
The little angels of Humming Buds presented an attractive item depicting Panj Payaras, the farmers and the lively people of Punjab. Renowned radio artists, Gursharan Kour and Avtar Kour who were specially invited for the event, mesmerized the audience with the beautiful rendition of Punjabi folk songs. Shreya Sharma, a teacher trainee spoke about the importance of spring season.
Dr. Arun K. Gupta felicitated all the artists and performers for their excellent performances.
A best Punjabi bride contest for B. Ed trainees was held in which Megha Khajuria, Reena Sharma and Dupinder Kour bagged first three places respectively.
As recognition of continuous participation at national level sports events by Model Academy, the Department of Youth Services and Sports, presented a sports kit which was handed over by Dr Adit Gupta to Dr Chitra Mishra and Usha Chunni, Sports Officer, MIER.
A vote of thanks was presented by Komal Sharma, Convener, Co-curricular Committee of the College.
