MIER college organizes function on Human Rights & Values

JAMMU, Jan 16: MIER College of Education organized a function to present certificates for the UGC sponsored Course on Human Rights & Values.
The chief guest of the function was Mir Tariq Ali, Special Sectary to Government, J&K and guest of honour was Vir Ji Hangloo, Director Social Welfare Department, J&K.
Prominent among other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions, Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Dr NR Sharma, Dean Academics MIER, Dr P L Koul, Course Coordinator and HoDs of various departments and Centre Heads along with the staff  members and students of the College.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Dr. Arun Gupta extended a formal welcome to the chief guests and other dignitaries and added that the course is a path breaking initiative by MIER.
Dr PL Koul, Course coordinator formally gave a brief introduction of the course.
Mir Tariq Ali, chief guest, addressed the gathering and said that awareness of human rights is the need of the hour. Every human being is entitled to some basic rights and they have to be ensured by every Government.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Hangloo also emphasized on strengthening the respect for human rights and fundamental freedom.
A group song on the theme of Human Rights and Values was presented by the students of the college which was highly appreciated by the audience.
Later, the students who had completed the course successfully were awarded certificates by the chief guest. The participants also shared their experiences during the course. Dr Arun K Gupta, chairman MIER presented a memento to the chief guest as a token of gratitude.
The programme was conducted by Monika Rathore, Coordinator Centre for Women Studies, who also presented vote of thanks.
